Night Shift CNC Mill Operator Vandalia, Ohio

Operates multi-axes computer numerical control (CNC) milling machine to mill surfaces of metallic and nonmetallic work pieces by performing the following duties.

This position will be responsible for:

• Loads part in Mill. Retracts spindle and loads and secures first preset tool and holder. Starts machine and observes cutting operation.
• Compares numerical data display with specifications on operations sheet. Adjusts tool lengths and fixture offsets if required.
• Monitors tooling usage for maximum cost effectiveness.
• Operates machine on preliminary dry run before machining first part to detect errors in computer program. Completes First Article Inspection. Accurately modifies or documents jobs.
• Responsible for the accuracy and quality of the part. Authorized to stop processes to ensure quality.
• Works overtime as required.

• Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, routers and inspection procedures. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to understand general G-code programming.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry or ability to use a trig book. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Provides own tools. Demonstrates mechanical aptitude. Operates basic measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, surface plate checks and optical comparators.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
